Overview
Important: This workflow applies to GXP Reefer dispatches only. Standard reefer dispatches show a one-time confirmation modal and do not require the full pickup inspection, monitoring, or certification steps described in this article. Not all reefer moves are GXP, and not all GXP moves are reefer.
The Reefer Check & Certification feature in Power Direct helps drivers record, monitor, and share GXP Reefer unit details more accurately. It was designed to reduce errors, improve compliance, and make it easier for dispatch and customer service teams to track temperature-controlled shipments.
What This Feature Does
Unit Details & Certification
Power Direct captures reefer unit information — including temperatures, fuel levels, and equipment condition — to ensure the equipment is properly certified before moving freight.
Temperature & Fuel Monitoring
The app prompts you for regular updates throughout your dispatch so you can confirm reefer temperature and fuel levels at required intervals.
Proof of Reefer Condition
At the end of each move, you'll provide a final temperature and fuel reading before collecting a customer/recipient signature on a certification form. This creates a complete record for both you and the customer.
How It Works
Starting a GXP Reefer Dispatch
Open the assigned GXP Reefer dispatch in Power Direct.
You'll see reefer-specific fields such as temperature set point, fuel information, and equipment condition.
Enter & Confirm Details
Enter the reefer unit information.
Confirm that pickup details are complete.
Take a photo of the reefer unit when prompted — required at pickup for every GXP Reefer dispatch.
Tap Submit to continue.
Equipment Condition Questions
During the pickup inspection, you'll be asked about the physical condition of the reefer unit. Answer each question based on what you can observe:
T-bar moisture: Yes / No / Unknown
Floor moisture: Yes / No
Wall moisture: Yes / No / Unknown
Ceiling moisture: Yes / No / Unknown
Drain tube clogged: Yes / No
Select Unknown if the container is sealed and you cannot visually inspect that area. Use Unknown any time you cannot accurately determine the answer — this ensures the inspection record reflects what you were actually able to observe.
Reefer Monitoring
During the dispatch, Power Direct will prompt you for updates at required intervals.
Complete the required fields each time you're notified.
A countdown timer is displayed at the top of the screen showing how long until your next required update.
You can also submit an update early by tapping on the banner — handy if you're already stopped and want to log the check before moving again.
Each monitoring check requires a photo of the reefer unit.
Completion & Reporting
At the end of the move, you'll be prompted for one final reefer update (temperature and fuel).
Take a photo of the reefer unit at delivery.
Power Direct will generate a certification report based on your previous inputs. Confirm the information is correct.
The report requires both a customer/recipient signature and your own signature before completion.
The completed Reefer Certification PDF is accessible from the Reports screen after submission.
Tip: Submitting timely updates keeps your dispatch in compliance and helps avoid follow-ups from dispatch or customer service.
